Dental Implants

Complete Your Smile

Now, patients who are missing teeth have a strong, beautiful alternative to traditional bridges, partials, or full dentures. Dental implants will improve your smile and your lifestyle. They look, feel, and function like natural teeth because of a titanium anchor attached to the jawbone. Drs. Compean can anchor bridges, partials, or full dentures to eliminate slipping while giving you the next best thing to your natural smile.

You can enjoy unmatched benefits when compared to traditional dental prosthetics, including:

  • Over a 95% success rate to last for several decades.
  • Looks natural using all-ceramic material.
  • Restore as much as 70% of your natural biting force.
  • Permanently eliminate slipping and irritation.
  • Preserves your jawbone’s density to improve your oral health.
  • Supports your facial tissues for a younger-looking appearance.
  • Doesn’t alter healthy teeth.
  • Cost-effective because they should never need to be replaced with the right aftercare.

Indications for Dental Implants

Dental implants can be used to treat all severities of tooth loss. Depending on how many teeth you need to replace, your treatment process varies slightly.

Missing Single Tooth

A single implant post is inserted into your jawbone to serve as a new root. An abutment is placed on the post to connect your custom-made restoration. It’s designed to match the appearance of your natural teeth to blend in when you smile.

Missing Multiple Teeth

Instead of placing crowns on the adjacent teeth to support the bridge, an implant post is used at either end to support it. This preserves your healthy teeth while giving you a long-term solution.

Missing All Teeth

4 to 8 implant posts can anchor your denture to your jawbone. You can chew, speak, and smile confidently knowing your denture stays securely in place.

Start-to-Finish Dental Implant Treatment

Typically, the process to rebuild your smile with dental implants requires you to visit multiple offices for each stage of your treatment. You can skip the hassle and enjoy one dentist by your side from start-to-finish. Drs. Compean have completed extensive training to provide both the placement and restoration of dental implants right in our office. You’ll have peace of mind knowing your entire treatment is handled by one trusted dentist.

Understanding the Cost of Dental Implants

There isn’t a set amount you can expect to pay for your treatment because the cost is determined by your individual treatment plan. There are several factors that influence the price, such as the number of teeth you’re replacing and your dental coverage. Your dentist provides you with a customized estimate and will discuss your payment options to keep your new smile affordable, such as using your dental insurance or CareCredit.

Dental Implant FAQs

Dental implants are the smart solution to permanently treat tooth loss. Although you’ve heard about their benefits, it’s normal to have questions about the treatment before you’re ready to commit to it. Our dentists will take the time to explain the process and address any concerns during your initial consultation. While you wait for your appointment, here are the answers to a few of the most common questions we hear to help ease your worries about the process.

Am I too old for dental implants?

Age isn’t necessarily a determining factor for your candidacy for dental implants. If you’ve finished growing, your age is only a number. Instead, Drs. Compean will consider your oral health and medical history to ensure dental implants are the right option for you. Besides a visual examination, he’ll also review a CT scan. Based on the results of the imaging, you may need additional procedures to become a candidate for dental implants, like periodontal therapy or bone grafting.

Are dental implants painful?

You will need oral surgery to place titanium implant posts into your jawbone. Don’t worry, you won’t feel anything. Sedation or anesthesia is used during your procedure to ensure your comfort. It’s normal to have some pain and tenderness while you heal; however, it can be managed with an over-the-counter pain reliever. As your smile heals, any discomfort will subside. If any pain doesn’t improve or it occurs after you’ve healed, it can be a sign of an infection. It’s best to contact our office immediately.

Can dental implants fail?

Dental implants are the most reliable option to treat tooth loss. They are proven to last for several decades with the right care. While it is rare, they can fail. Generally, the risk of complications is less than 5%. Often, it results from a preventable infection called peri-implantitis. You can help prevent implant failure by maintaining your oral hygiene and regular care from your dentist. If you develop any signs of infection, like redness or pain, don’t wait to contact our office.

How long will my dental implants last?

Dental implants can last for a lifetime with the right care. You can maintain your results by brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing every night. Be sure to clean around the abutments and dental implants well. Besides your care at home, don’t forget to visit your dentist at least twice a year for a cleaning and checkup. It’s also best to stop smoking and limit your alcohol consumption to reduce your risk of complications, like an infection.

Can I use my dental insurance?

Believe it or not, many dental insurance companies cover a portion of the cost of dental implants. Although every policy differs, most plans will reduce the amount you need to pay for certain steps in your treatment until you reach your yearly limits, like X-rays or restorations. We will work on your behalf with your insurance carrier to maximize your annual coverage. We will explain your payment options for any remaining balance, like CareCredit.
